What does 2-17 represent?

The “2-17” in The Difference 2-17 holds a very special meaning—it represents the birthday of Alex Pidel, the son of our president and founder.

Alex was the inspiration behind the creation of The Difference 2-17, as Donna and Bayo envisioned a place for individuals with disabilities unlike any other. They dreamed of a community that embraces the whole person—their ambitions, interests, and heart—and invites them to be fully seen and valued for their uniqueness.

At The Difference 2-17, you are welcomed exactly as you are, and over time, participants discover how a life can be elevated to its fullest potential. It’s a place where everyone celebrates individuality while fostering connection and growth, and truly experiences how we are different from the rest.

Donna Pidel is a dedicated professional and community member with an extensive background in nonprofit service, specifically in the fields of underprivileged children and disabled people. With over 32 years of experience in Autism, she has demonstrated a passion for helping individuals with disabilities. Donna’s philanthropic efforts have made a significant impact on various organizations and communities, and she continues to strive for excellence in her work.

Donna is motivated to make a difference by her 37 year old son who is challenged by Autism, coupled by multiple disabilities, and has dedicated her life to serving others. Her mission is to deliver quality and innovative services to all those who can benefit.

Adebayo Sodunke

Vice President

Adebayo Sodunke has worked in the field of disabilities for 25 years, supporting the needs of people with disabilities and organizations that have been impacted by the need for compassionate care. He has directed programs that provide uplifting and inspiring life skills to people with Autism and other disabilities by using his passion and dedication to the work. Embracing community involvement and recognition is the key to success for those who have been impacted by disabilities and through his emphasis on inclusion, has empowered people to use their own strengths to advocate for themselves in their own lives, empowering others to be a catalyst for success.
